How to add 'Custom Fields' to your booking process?

ResDiary allows you to add a custom field to your booking process to collect more information about your guest during booking process which helps you to run your service more efficiently.

To add the Custom Field to your booking process, please follow the steps below,

1. Go to Settings > Reservations > Custom Fields

2. Enter the 'Name' of the custom field e.g.  'All members are partially vaccinated?'

3. Select the appropriate field type from 'Text' or 'URL'. The default field type would be 'Text'. If you need the field to be a web address then select the field type as 'URL'

4. For the information entered to appear in the booking summary with an ⓘ icon please tick the box to 'Highlight' (further information on where this shows below)

5. If you want to make this field mandatory and force customers to provide this information in order to complete a booking, please tick the 'Required Field' box.

6. Please ensure the Status button is  Green to active the Custom Field.
7. Complete the change by clicking 'Save'

After adding the custom field to your ResDiary follow the below steps to enable the custom field on your Table Plus widget.
1. Go to Settings > Diary Configuration > Online Settings > Switch to Interface Settings

2. Scroll to the section titled  'ResDiary Widget and Portal Settings'.  From the dropdown menu titled 'Custom Field to Display' select the custom field which you would like to appear on your Table Plus Widget online.

Note:  Only one custom field can be shown on the Table Plus Widget.

3. Click on 'Save' to apply the changes and the custom field will start appearing on the Table Plus Widget.

Where to view 'Custom Fields' contained information
- If you have selected the option to 'Highlight' a custom field it will appear ⓘ  icon on the reservation and when you click on a reservation custome field contained informaiton would be appear in the reservation summary.

- Custom fields contained information can be viewed from the 'Running Order view'. Switch to the running order view by click on the running order view button.

If the custom field would not appear in your running order view that can be added to the running order view of your ResDiary.  To show the custom field in the 'Running Order' view then go to 'Reports' > 'Report Settings' and select your custom field under the heading 'Columns displayed in Running Order Report'  you can also change the place of the custom field by dragging and dropping the column upside and downside. Please ensure to click on 'Save' to apply the changes.

Custom field information can also be seen in the 'Booking Details Report'. Click Here to see how to run the booking detail report. To add the custom field in your booking detail report go to 'List Settings' of the report then click on 'Edit the columns you see and their order'. Search by the name of the custom field to add the columns in the report. Click on Done editing the columns to include the custom field in the report.
